Scavenger Hunt List

Here is the list that we created for the hunt.   Like I said in my previous post , we live in a small town.  I knew where the kids were going to be stopping.  I planned the scavenger hunt to bring them right to the house and within a certain amount of time.  Here is our list: Scavenger Hunt   Things to find: 2001 coin – any amount (or the year of the child’s birth) 5 different types of leaves A twig from a tree A pine cone A Smooth Rock A take-out menu from a local restaurant Things to photo: A colored front door (red, yellow, teal … anything but white, beige, brown, gray, black) Smallest house House with the nicest yard Someone jogging Someone walking their dog Group of flowers in bloom   Things to complete (& photo taken of you doing them): Swing on the swing set Hang upside down from the monkey bars Run 1 lap around the high school track Play hopscotch (with the smooth rock you found) Jumping Jack’s in the middle of the football field Gro

Birthday Celebrations

Image
Earlier this month, our little Firecracker celebrated her 12th birthday .   I am amazed every day at the young woman that she is turning into.   It's hard to believe how quickly she, and her siblings, are growing up.   We decided, to have her birthday party the weekend after her birthday.  She invited a few of her closest girlfriends over for a slumber party.   One of the things that she wanted was a scavenger hunt.  We live in Mayberry...or so it feels like.   There are times, that I half expected to see Andy Griffith  himself strolling the streets with Barney Fife and keeping us safe.  (Now you are whistling the song, aren't you? You're welcome.)    That's what I love about our small town.  It's small.  It doesn't take long for everyone to know everyone, either.  So I created a scavenger hunt that started at one side of town and had these girls walk back to our house on the other side of town, doing silly things along the way, like running 1 lap around the

Spring Cleaning

It's that time of year, where the flowers are in bloom, the birds are chirping, the days are getting longer, little by little, the frogs are croaking in the evening, and you I look around your  my yard and say to myself, "Oh.My.Stars!  This is a tragedy!!!  My poor neighbors have to look at this yard!" T he past few weekends have been either absolutely sunny & gorgeous or cold & dry out.   Which here in the Greater Northwest means we have really lucked out for our Spring weather.  That also means three other things.  Kids outside playing all day (my favorite) Yard work (not a favorite (yet) but getting there) Trip to the landfill/dump I decided to tackle my nemesis.  The underneath of our deck.  This seems to be the catch all for all things yard related, and all winter long.  No matter how many times I try to clean it, organize it, decraptify it, it always seems to be a major junk magnet. Here is the Before photo: Grody right?!?!?! An

Dropping In...

Just dropping in a quick hello.  We've been super busy around here working on the yard, the house, birthday party and studying like mad!  The big kids had finals last week, so between work, and helping them study there was no time to blog.  Family first!  :) I'll be back in a bit with more updates, photos, menu's and projects!!

Meal Plan Monday of 3/4/2013

Note:  Sorry this is late.  Is it just me?  Or is this week cruising by fast?  Too fast! Hi there!   How are ya?!  Man, we have been busy!   I wanted to get this up today, so if any of you are out there wondering the age old question, "What's for dinner?" that maybe this will help you a little. Do you shop at Safeway?   I do primarily most of my shopping at Safeway.  I take advantage of the Just for U coupons, the manufacture coupons, the Club Card Savings, and of course, when the $10 off $50 comes out...I'm all over it.  But have you seen this little piece of goodness? Safeway Select Simmer Sauces.  Umm, yeah, DELISH!  I've made a few of them now.  My bestie has made a few of them as well.  We both really, really like them, and to top it off, so incredibly easy.  If you haven't tried them yet, you totally should! Seriously!  The EASIEST, quick fix dinner...EV-AH!!!  Try it! Monday:   Butter Chicken (Safeway Select Simmer Sauce) with brown rice and g
