Happy Memorial Day!


As I am sitting here at the computer, with my peanut butter toast, and a cup of tea; I can't help but reflect on WHY I have the day off from work?  WHY I get to enjoy a day with my family?  When there are all ranks of the military serving our country, away from their families, without a day off.   It's because of these men and women of our past, present and future, that I do get to do these things.  I can't express my heartfelt 'thank you' nearly enough.

 If you/your family is suffering the loss of a service member paying the ultimate sacrifice, my heart is heavy for you today. If you/your family is supporting a service member who is putting it all on the line, I worry with you every day. Selfless courage is what made our nation great. I'll never forget those who have and who currently embody this incredibly honorable trait.
I would like to share this poem, that an 87 year old, mentor/friend, of one of my friend's wrote.

Memorial Day

The crowds are getting smaller
The parades becoming few
The Holiday is upon us
And we have so much to do.

There are sales we have to get to
New vacation spots to see
A barbeque that must be started
Or someplace we need to be.

We’ve forgotten what this day is
What it was meant to be
A chance to pause and think about
The reason we are free.

To remember men and women
Who gave all that they could give
So we could all enjoy this land
And the freedom that we live.

So if you have a chance today
Please pause and say a prayer
For all of those that gave their all
To show how much they care.

ORC: Week One - Built-Ins & Overthinking

 Well, here we are at week one of the One Room Challenge and I have officially wasted a full week overthinking my base cabinets.   I was so excited.  Ordered them online from The Home Depot, got curbside pick up.  Got them home and placed them in their new spots and instant buyers remorse.   What had I done?   I started sending pics to those closest to me and asking their opinions.  The icing on the cake was when the hubby got home and immediately said, "Holy smokes those things are HUGE!" I went on Instagram Stories and asked for your opinions, which was 50/50, so that didn't help at all....hahaha    I  then started using painters tape to fuel my vision.  I am such a visual person that I really need to see that what was currently in my home was not too large, cumbersome, bulky, and literally ruining my vision for built-ins.    I asked friends to check it out when they stopped by.  Friends!!!  It ...

Back to School....Back to Blogging

Hey, hey, hey....I can not believe it's been nearly 5 months since my last post! 5 months!   That's forever.  Nearly 1/2 of this year.  So, far, that is the entire length of my employment at my new job.  See where I'm going?  Lots have happened in 5 months.  Unfortunately, just not lots around the  house, like I had been hoping for.  I think I had to glorious idea in my head that I would be able to get about 3-4 posts, consisting of projects, crafts, recipes, what have you, up on the blog each week.  I really did.  And then....reality hit. And it hit hard.    Blogging takes a lot of time.  It's enough that the projects take time, but then to add blogging to it.  Wow, was I ever delusional.  I don't blog for income, I blog for friends and family, mostly those out of town, to see what has been happening in and around our family.  So why put that stress on myself? ...
