Meal Plan Monday 9/30/2013

Happy Monday!   I have to start by saying Happy of Happiest Birthday's to the best brother a girl could ask for...Happy Birthday Jeff!!! Boy, we sure had a wet, wet, weekend, didn't we?!  My poor kiddos played some great soccer games on Saturday through the rain and the wind.  I was thankful they didn't play on Sunday, the worst of them all. We had counted that last week we had a combined total of 7 soccer practices and 8 different soccer games.  One of my daughters had played 4 of those 8 games last week. This week is, thankfully, a little more calm and a little more routine. Monday:   Crockpot:   Brown Sugar & Maple Pork Roast Tuesday:   Crockpot:   Roast with baked potatoes Wednesday:   Garlic Lime Chicken Fajitas Thursday:   Taco's Friday:   Date Night   Saturday:   Steak, spaghetti, zucchini, garlic bread Sunday:   Rotisserie: Chicken I hope that everyone has a great week! ...

Ch-Ch-Changes....Ch-Ch-Chores

Image
That's right folks.  We have had a good ole revamp to our chore chart.  In our home the chores are divided amongst the four kids and then every week we rotate the chores, to keep it fair around here.   Well, I had 4 calendars, 4 kids, 4x the clutter (which I'm trying to eliminate around here).  It was working, but not effectively.  It was always a battle to remember what week we were on and who was doing what. I looked all over the Internet, Pinterest , Google...you name it, I searched it, all I wanted was ideas for a simple chore chart that would work for all four kids and be on ONE calendar!  I just couldn't find it. I've been dwelling on this for a while now.  It wasn't until I was looking at a color wheel this last week, while picking out colors for a special girls bedroom , did I think about a chore chart...on a wheel!!    I'm feeling pretty proud of myself, just so ya'll know. I sat down and wrote down ev...

Aunt Lula's Zucchini Bread Recipe

Image
Recipe swaps.   They used to be a very common thing when women would get together and share all their baking secrets.    Now with the day in the age of the Internet, blogs, Facebook, and Pinterest we still swap recipes, just in a different way.    I’d like to share with you the zucchini bread recipe that we recently inherited from The Mister’s Grandmother’s recipe boxes.    This came from her Aunt Lula.   I have been making bread like crazy with all the zucchini’s we’ve been getting from the garden.   Ingredients: 3 eggs 1 C of oil 2 C of sugar 2 C of Grated zucchini (1 medium-large zucchini) 2 tsp. of vanilla extract 3 c flour 1 tsp baking soda ¼ tsp baking powder 1 tsp salt 3 tsp cinnamon Optional: ½ c chopped walnuts   Pre-heat oven to 325 Large Bowl: Beat eggs until light and foamy.   Add the next 4 ingredients: oil, sugar, grated zucchini, vanilla extract.    Mix lightly, but well....

Meal Plan Monday 9/23/2013

Hello everyone!   Hope you all had a great weekend.   Did you stay dry?   We did, for the most part.   Although our Saturday was filled with soccer games; 4 games, 3 kids, 1 double header, it was busy and a lot of traveling, we got drizzled on a little bit but stayed dry for the most part. Saturday evening I was able to slip away with 2 of my favorite girlfriend's for a few hours.  It is always good to have girl time.  Sunday was wet, windy and wet.  I stayed indoors and loved it.  I planned out the weeks meals and made about 4 loaves of zucchini bread to freeze for later in the year.  :) Monday:   Grilled Cheese Sandwiches with Clam Chowder Tuesday:  Slow Cooker :  Pesto Ranch Chicken Wednesday:  Slow Cooker:   Salisbury Steak with mashed potatoes and peas Thursday:  Slow Cooker:   Lemon and Garlic Chicken Friday: Homemade Calzones Saturday:  Grilled Steak w/ Green sal...

Meal Plan Monday 9/16/2013

Good Morning friends! I almost didn't get to my meal plan this week since we had some family in town.   You can see why here. How many of you have sports taking over your life right now?   We do!   We have high school sports, plus 3 in recreational soccer.   We have a few games this week as well as practices, but we also have Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts for both the boys, as well as a few double headers this coming week.   Definitely a full plate! The dinner's that I will be putting on our plates this week are going to be...... Monday:    Chicken Breasts Side Dish:  Baby Squash w/ Basil & Feta        Tuesday: Crockpot:   Pot Roast Side Dish: Mashed potatoes   Wednesday:  Chicken Breasts Side Dish:  Pasta Primavera Thursday:  Crockpot:   Chicken Cacciatore Side Dish:  Grilled Zucchini Friday:   Hamburgers/Hot Dogs Side Dish(s):...

A Beautiful Soul

Image
I hope everyone has had a great weekend.   Ours was full of mixed emotions.   We had lots of family in town from Canada, Washington and California.   While it was great to see the family we haven't seen in a very long time.   There were still some sad moments.  Why?  All to remember, honor and celebrate THIS amazing woman!   We all have lots of wonderful memories of her.  Some that bring us laughter.  Some that brings us tears.  All that bring us joy.   Because for those of you that never got to meet this woman, I'm sorry.  Truly sorry.   For those of you that were lucky enough to have her in your life.  Please now that you were blessed.   Very blessed because Grammie was an exceptional soul.   Loving you always, miss you forever.

M. I. A.

It's been nearly a month since my last post. I've been a little M.I.A.    You've noticed.    I've been asked why I haven't been blogging.     Well, truth is.  I'm tired.  Very tired. We've been very busy.   Nothing with the house. No new projects. No new crafts.   Just family. Spending lots of time as a family. Appreciating each other. Loving each other.   Vacations. For the first time in 17 years, we took TWO!  TWO! 10 day vacations.  In the same month!! That leaves no room for anything else. We got back from vacation just in time to scramble for the first day of school. Bubba has gotten so good this summer.  Doing doubles with Momma!   School. Who said summer could end so quickly? Who said these beautiful babies of mine could grow up faster than ever imaginable? Bubba: 3rd Grade   Baby Girl: 5th Grade   Firecracker: 7t...
